The topic will be in: “How is Geology Related To Me” (Why and how is geology relevant to you as an individual). The way on how you should choose a topic will be discussed at length on the first lecture. The paper must be at least 3 pages long (not including list of sources) and no more than 5 pages, double space, and citing academic sources (internet sources are valid). The paper should be emailed to me on either pdf or doc format. In order to get a full grade, make sure that you narrow down your topic inasmuch as you can (it is easy to write and to research if your topic is concise).
For example, volcanoes would be a huge topic, but types of magmas in a volcano would be a great thesis to work on.

To provide you with an opportunity to explore the numerous satellite images that exist and explore how different features/landscapes appear in images one of your assignments in this course will be to create a piece of satellite art. This will be worth 5% of your final grade.
The satellite art piece can focus on any topic you choose and use any of the different types of remote sensing that we discuss in the course. One restriction the image should be of Earth. In addition to the satellite art, you will need to provide a < 500-word write-up explaining your topic (why you chose it, what the image is showing), and how you manipulated the satellite image. The text should be entered using the text entry feature on Quercus.

When writing your analysis, remember to think about the details, and the evidence for your predictions.

Lab 11 uses forecast models to create a forecast for the Ypsilanti area. You will also be comparing the North American Model (NAM) to the Global Forecast system Model to determine accuracy of the models.
Procedure for Completion:
1 It will be important for completing the lab to read through the background and procedures before starting the Lab.
2. Follow the procedures to complete your Lab and fill out your Lab report.
3. This lab will require you to attach a snipped screenshot of several images and paste them into your lab. If this gets to cumbersome you can place them all in a separate file and submit with your lab report.
4. When writing your analysis, remember to think about the details, and the evidence for your predictions.
